The tourist village of Qeparo reveals its breathtaking position
immediately after the bay of Porto Palermo. It is a village that has
attracted an immense number of tourists. Himara is located in the
southwest of Albania on the Ionian coast.
The village of Qeparo is a charming destination known for its breathtaking views and its beautifully preserved traditional architecture. Narrow cobblestone lanes weave through the old village, creating a peaceful atmosphere that invites visitors to explore at a slow and pleasant pace. Ancient churches scattered throughout the area add to its cultural richness, offering a glimpse into the spiritual and historical life of the community. Some buildings still preserve illyrian or kaonian inscriptions in their walls, details that hold significant archaeological and historical interest.
Qeparo once had a total of eight churches in its territory, each contributing to the village’s strong cultural identity. Another highlight is the castle of Ali Pasha Tepelena, located near the village. Designed by an architect from the French army, the castle stands today as an important architectural and touristic landmark, offering stunning views over the coast and surrounding mountains.
The nearby Himara region shares a similar charm but on a broader scale. The area is characterized by dramatic mountain landscapes and hills that plunge directly into the crystal clear sea, creating an ideal combination of rugged nature and pristine beaches. The region enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate, making it a popular and attractive destination for visitors seeking relaxation, sun, and authentic coastal culture. With its blend of natural beauty, traditional heritage, and welcoming atmosphere, Himara remains one of the most beloved spots along the Albanian Riviera.
